#169. Flash And Bones by Kathy Reichs

Title:
Flash And Bones
Author:
Kathy Reichs
Genre:
Crime Fiction/Thriller/Forensics
Synopsis:
A body is found in a barrel of asphalt beside a racetrack in Charlotte, opening old issues and overturning an inaccurate local narrative.
Verdict:
Looking at home-grown American isolationists/terrorists, this novel shines light on some pretty worrying behaviour.

#168. Mortal Remains (Spider Bones) by Kathy Reichs

Title:
Mortal Remains (Spider Bones)
Author:
Kathy Reichs
Genre:
Crime Fiction/Thriller/Forensics
Synopsis:
A body is found to be that of a man who was supposed to have died in Vietnam. As they try to establish how he came to be there, they also try to work out where he has been all these years and who was buried in his place all those years ago.
Verdict:
The involvement of the facility in Hawaii which is devoted to identified the remains of fallen soldiers is a very interesting feature. The story contains just enough character development story line to move things along without overwhelming the plot.

#167. 206 Bones by Kathy Reichs

Title:
206 Bones
Author:
Kathy Reichs
Genre:
Crime Fiction/Thriller/Forensics
Synopsis:
Brennan awakens to find herself enclosed in a dark space. As she tries to find her way out she must also try to remember what led to her being there and the identity of those responsible.
Verdict:
The accusation of incompetence and the doubt in herself that this inspires gave a twist to proceedings to enhance the investigation. I continue to enjoy the flawed but skilled version of the character that exists in the books on a different level to the procedural drama version who exists in the television show.
